The current Attorney General is Dana Nessel, a Democrat. However, she is term limited and cannot seek re-election.
The current Attorney General candidates are Eli Savit (Democrat) and Doug Lloyd (Republican).
The length of an Attorney General’s term is 4 years, and one can have up to two terms.
The Attorney General has a few responsibilities. These responsibilities include representing the state in court, enforcing consumer protection laws, antitrust enforcement, investigating public corruption, defending the state constitution, overseeing state agencies, Medicaid fraud and healthcare enforcement, environmental protection, and civil rights enforcement.
